Behind the artwork.
About me.
I have been working as a CAD/CAM technician for over 8 years. This time has been spent in an outsource, dental-dedicated milling center. I spend most days dealing with complex implant cases and full cosmetic restorations. Most of the time, these jobs consist of things other labs would rather leave to the professionals.
I personally do not come from a dental-orientated background. I studied Art and Design at a college level. From this, I was accepted onto a Creative Product Design Course at Bristol University. After attending a couple of lectures I quickly realized this wasn’t going to be for me. I then set out on searching for something unique and out of the box to ‘sink my teeth into’. I was brought on board as a CADCAM Technician in a dental lab and never looked back.
As I said my background isn’t dental, and because of this, I have spent countless hours researching anatomy, occlusal dynamics, and the overall function of the oral cavity, from phonetics to mastication.
I now oversee and offer support in constructing effective and aesthetic dental restorations in the lab. I have had experience covering every station in the lab from operating milling machines to running 3D printers. Knowing the ins and outs of things like milling and printing is priceless when you are designing something to be constructed through one of these mediums.
As I have grown in my career I have put countless hours into research. This left me with a large scope of what the dental education market has to offer. I am aiming to hit the gap in the market for some vibrant artwork we can all learn and get inspired from.
It’s not just teeth.
When I first started as a CADCAM technician, I started to practice in my spare time on free sculpting software. During this time I created a series of animal heads.
Using these sculptures as an avenue to expand my skills with surface texture and anatomical form.
